Storing Mushrooms in Paper
Do you ever wonder how long mushrooms have been sitting in a container, wrapped in plastic?
If you are trying to reduce the role of plastic in your life, consider the way mushrooms are packed, sold and then stored at home in a fridge.
There’s another way to buy and store mushrooms. Buy them loose and transport them home in the paperbag that the grocery store provides. After washing them, store in a paper bag in the fridge—better for air flow—or paper towel, if you don’t have paper bags on hand.
If purchasing loose mushrooms is not an option, at least remove the plastic container and wrap once at home, wash, dry and store in paper in the fridge. It’s just better that way.
